EndoVenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)

EVLT is a minimally invasive laser procedure. A thin laser fiber is inserted in the vein. Laser energy is delivered to seal the faulty vein. Walking immediately after the procedure is encouraged. Normal daily activity can be resumed (just avoid rigorous activities, such as gym workouts). There may be minor soreness and bruising. Any discomfort can be treated with pain relievers as needed. EVLT is an alternative to old-fashioned traumatic vein stripping. Dr. Ahmad combines EVLT with high ligation to prevent recurrences.

Micro-Phlebectomy

Micro-Phlebectomy is performed in an outpatient facility. The procedure site is left virtually scar-free. Why No Scars? The reason is simple. All incisions made in the lower legs are no more than 2mm. NO SUTURES ARE REQUIRED. A tiny micro-incision is made at the affected site through which the unwanted vein is gently extracted. Most incisions are closed with small pieces of sterile tape. Most patients need only one day off from work in which to have the procedure and may return to normal activities within 24 hours! This is a minor micro-surgical procedure. Minor bruising can appear, but usually dissipates within a few weeks. Any discomfort can be treated with pain relievers as needed.

Transdermal Laser Treatment

We recommend electromagnetic therapy for the treatment of spider veins. At our center, spider veins and reticular veins are treated with diode laser-radiofrequency combination. These treatments require multiple sessions of therapy; each affected area requires 2 to 3 sessions of therapy 2 to 3 weeks apart. Spider veins can be treated with sclerotherapy: however this method of treatment is not our preferred therapy, because there is a significant incidence of complications. Electromagnetic therapy improves the quality of skin by increasing the amount of collagen in the dermis of the skin. This is why new veins do not grow back in the skin which is now thick and more like young skin.
